Ever Thought of Taking a Quick Fix Diet Plan? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t
Do dieticians and fitness trainers recommend going on a 7 day weight loss program? Certain things might be a good enough excuse to go that route such as a friend’s wedding or high school reunion. You’ve also been saving money to buy that blue dress that would go perfect with your new hairstyle.
Well, I guess in that case you could consider a 7 day weight loss plan to lose between 11 and 16 pounds in just seven days. So why don’t Dietitians recommend it? Let me explain why it’s not such as a good idea other than being simply unhealthy.
Your Body Learns to Burn Fat Slower and Slower
Let’s say you decide to go on a quick fix diet such as the 7 day weight loss diet. It then tells you to eat approximately 1000 calories per day. It’s not recommended to eat that amount of calories. It’s simply not enough. You are then teaching your body to burn that amount of calories. Your metabolism adapts to your lifestyle even in just a few days. A human body is actually so great. It goes into “survival mode” where it starts to reserve as much resources as possible.
You will lose weight in the first few days of your 7 day diet plan and you’ll also lose it quickly. Your metabolism will burn your food at its normal rate at let’s say 2500 calories. Therefore you’ll be amazed at how fast you’ll be losing those pounds. The sad part is that your body will go into a “survival mode”. It begins to preserve itself so that you can keep on going for longer. It’s almost like your body thinks you’re stuck in the desert. Then it adapts itself to your calorie intake and so will your weight loss tempo slow down till it completely stops.
What happens after the 7 day weight loss program? You continue with your normal diet where your calorie intake is around 2500. In the previous 7 days you’ve trained your body to burn only 1050 calories per day. Therefore your body will take a few days to adapt to your old routine again. You’ll gain more weight than you’ve lost because your body will take longer to adapt than before.
What Do You Suggest Then?
A 7 day weight loss program is a good idea for detoxicating your body, but it’s not a good idea if you want to lose weight continuously. You’ll only end up gaining more weight. You might be willing to take the fall for the sake of the wedding or reunion. Just follow it up with a long-term healthy diet so that you won’t be in a worse condition than before.
