How To Sustain Motivation When Trying To Tone Arms
What prevents most women from being able to tone arms? The dip. What’s that you say It’s a setback that throws many women off the wagon.
What is the dip? In a nutshell, it’s the setbacks you will face when trying to reach your sexy arm goal. And most women are UNABLE to get over their dips.
Why? Because they are so obsessed with finding the perfect diet and exercise program. Even worse, some are obsessed with finding a magical potion that will solve all their problems while they watch TV! If only we could bottle motivation
You shouldn’t be running motivational sprints, you should be running motivational marathons. So without further ado, here are 4 tips to survive the marathon to tone arms:
1. ONLY use anger for short periods of time. If you find yourself constantly angry or upset, your body is being flooded with cortisol. And no amount of clean eating or exercise can reverse this. In case you didn’t know, cortisol eats muscle which lowers your metabolism which lowers the amount of calories you burn 24/7. However, anger can be extremely effective when used for short bursts of activity like a workout.
2. Lower your self-imposed standards for progress. Women with lower standards make more progress. Why? Because they keep on sprinting forward regardless of small hiccups and they don’t get caught up with the minutiae. Perfectionists, however, find it very hard to take action unless every single star is perfectly aligned.
3. Set deadlines for all mini-goals, not just the big ones. We have been conditioned our entire lives to respond to deadlines. Why would your goal to tone arms be any different? Without a deadline, your sexy arm dream will be just that-a dream. Set an INSANE deadline which will force you to focus on only the most critical components.
4. Expose yourself to what you fear, again and again. This is an extremely effective strategy for desensitizing yourself from what you fear. The key here is to take it inch by inch. If you are terrified of gyms, for instance, you could spend a couple days walking around a gym for a couple minutes without doing ANY exercise. If anybody asks you what you’re doing, simply tell them you’re checking out the equipment to see if the gym is a good fit. Once you are comfortable, you can begin exercise little by little to tone arms.
Although certain programs to tone arms are better than others, neglecting your mental processes is a surefire path to failure. After all, the ability to stick with something in the face of hardship is what separates the successes from the failures. So start applying these tips today!
